Initiative
Concretedatamodel.com is an initiative of Nynke ter Heide of Vidabo. Nynke has worked in the past as a concrete technology consultant and structural engineer. Since 2017, she is a freelance data expert on cases with data in the construction industry in general and concrete in particular.
Nynke: “I regularly work at the intersection of data and concrete and see that every organisation in the concrete sector has its own data language and structure. As a result, it takes a lot of time and effort to share data and combine datasets. That’s a shame, because the most valuable insights usually come from the combination of data.
I think it’s great that the concrete sector is working hard on sustainability. Data can support this:
- Data helps to provide an honest picture of the environmental performance of concrete compared to other materials
- With data we can determine the most effective sustainability measures
- Data helps to make quick adjustments if things in practice turn out differently than previously thought
I would like to see concrete data shared more. I am therefore committed to the development of a standard concrete data model to make sharing easier.”
